Episode Transcription

Lauren Vaccarello: Hi everybody, and welcome to a very special episode of Truth Be Known. So this is going to be a shorter episode and we've got an announcement to make. I have loved being your host for the last couple of couple episodes. But we have exciting news. Truth Be Known is welcoming a new host. We have Rob Norman, who's joining the show to take over. Now, I've known Rob for years. He is absolutely incredible. And honestly, I think you're going to like him better as host than you like me. So Rob, welcome to the show. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Rob Norman: Thank you. Well, we'll certainly let the listeners be a judge of that, but thank you, Lauren. It's a pleasure to be hosting the podcast from now on. A little bit about me. I joined Talend in May of this year to lead marketing and EMEA. In a previous life, I spent time setting up marketing at a high growth FinTech series startup. And before that I was at Box for four years and throughout those experiences, I've spent a lot of time analyzing data on marketing performance. So I've experienced firsthand working with some really skilled data scientists and business analysts. And the difference it can make to strategic thinking and to decision-making as well as driving alignment across the business. But I've also experienced moments when, as a group we've been sitting there with the data folks questioning the data itself as a group and where it comes from and how complete it is and how trustworthy it is and whether we can make decisions on the data that we're looking at. So I recognize, you know, how challenging it can be to get data to the center of discussions and for it to be a reliable source of and basis for decision-making. And so having worked with data and analytics for as, you know, as long as I can remember in marketing, it's one of the things that I'm looking forward to the most is that opportunity now to engage with senior data analytics technology leaders to learn more about how they run their companies, how they run their teams, how they make decisions, how they're tackling some of the biggest challenges in data today. And not only share with listeners, all of that goodness, all of those pragmatic insights but also to take those lessons away for Talend and how we build a better product at Talend to serve the needs of this community. So, super excited to be hosting from from now on and Lauren, from your perspective since you've been running this podcast, what have you enjoyed most?

Lauren Vaccarello: Oh, gosh, there's so many things I've loved about the podcast. I think my absolute favorite honestly is our guests. We have had such incredible guests on the show and I have to tell you, I walk away every episode having learned something and being completely inspired. I remember our interview with Unmesh who's the CTO of P3 Health. And it was one of those episodes where I think in the background, we were both almost sort of in tears or at least I was about why he got into the field that he's in, and why data and innovation in healthcare is so important and so impactful. I remember one of our early episodes with Wendy from Nutanix and she is absolutely brilliant. And I learned that her, I believe 10 year old daughter wrote a giant novel, which I have since to bought the book and read. And I'm just also in awe of her daughter and the work that she was able to do. We had John Foley, who was the former lead pilot from the Blue Angels that talks about split-second decision-making. We've had Karl Hightower from Novant Health talking about empathy and data. So we've had so many incredible episodes where you just listened to all of these different people and you learn so much about them, about the worlds that they live in, about their companies and about how you can truly use data to make this incredible impact on the world. And I just, I have to say personally, I, like I said, I walk away completely inspired in awe of these people in every episode. So it has been an absolute privilege getting to spend so much time with people for the last 20 or so episodes.

Rob Norman: Well, Lauren, I will do my absolute best to carry the torch forward now that you're handing it over. And yeah, we've got some great guests coming up, including some of the world's leading CDOs. So for our listeners, stay tuned. They'll be giving their thoughts on data architecture, modernization, how they scale their operations and much, much more. In the meantime, you can find all the episodes of Truth, Be Known on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening and see you next time.
